Fischer "30-Second" ski reviews

RX Fire 8 FTi
One of the highest scoring skis we have seen and a player for Ski of the Year. Extremely quick, silky smooth, solid and stable and even forgiving. These sentiments appeared on a number of cards and tell the story: "Fun carver, nice light feel, refreshing change from over damp heavy carving skis. Simple, fun—I'm going to get a pair!" No need to lament the passing of the legendary RX8 . . .

RC4 Progressor
Want a bit more width and not interested in bumps? This performs nearly as well as the 8, but with more muscle. Smooth, quick, not quite as forgiving, bullet proof in crud.

RX Cool Heat
Powerful all mountain ski. Requires energy, strength and skill, but still remains reasonably nimble for a power plank. This is not a relaxing cruiser, but will respond well to aggressive input.

Watea 78
If the RX Fire 8 is an ideal 1-ski-quiver for groomer technical specialists, then the Watea 78 is its analog for all mountain-oriented skiers who spend some time on the groomed and in occasional mogul fields. The skill requirements are not daunting, but the 78 delivers well at the high end. Another top all around ski in Fischer's superb lineup. Stable, light, quick and versatile.

Vision Vapor
Female-specific version of the Cool Heat. Relatively lighter and less demanding, it is still a good choice for strong and skilled women who spend time in deep or broken snow and on the groomed. Like most Fischers, a solid hard snow carver as well.

Watea 94
Exceptionally versatile and user-friendly big mountain ski that skis much narrower on the groomed than it should with this kind of waist. Light, stable, quick for a big mountain gun. No discernable speed limit; powerful in broken snow. Ideal for Mammoth, Squaw, Jackson, The Bird, BC, heli and cat skiing.
